Summer Riding Academies

What could be better than riding and CAMPING!!

We had such a blast with our camping academies the last three years we are offering them again this year. These exciting academies consist of 5 riding lessons (2 1/2 hrs each) beginning the week of May 27th and ending with an overnight camping trip in the Nebraska National Forest at Halsey. The camping trip will include lots of horseback riding, swimming in the Dismal River, and lots of good campfire cooking.
4 meals will be provided during camping trip. Let the adventure begin!!

Must be at least 10 years old to participate in camping academy.

Riding lessons are for all skill levels (beginner to advanced) and will focus on helping riders better their horsemanship skills as well as teamwork, responsibility, and the care of horses and tack.
Camping trip will leave 9am day 1 and return by 2:30pm day 2.
Cost $410

Halsey Day Trip Academy

For those too young to camp or looking for something different, we will be offering an academy that will end with a day trip (8am-4:30pm) to ride in the Nebraska National Forest instead of camping. It will consist of the 6 lessons prior to the day trip.
Cost $370

Beginner Academy

For young beginners (ages 6-9) we offer a class consisting of 6 lessons, 90 minutes each, and ending with a family fun night where family members can meet the horses and watch students show off some of the skills they learn during class, followed by a campfire with S’mores for roasting.
Cost $245

Spring Riding Academy

Fun and Adventure!
Open to all skill levels, ages 6yrs-adults. Horses and all equipment needed are provided.

During this academy students will work on improving horsemanship skills and gaining confidence in their riding abilities through games, teamwork, and individual challenges. Respect, self discipline, and responsibility are just a few of the life skills practiced during classes. See tentative class schedules below.

Young Beginners (ages 6-9)
Cost $245 ($35/class for 7 classes)

Young students will learn the basics of leading, grooming, saddling, and riding. Kids will practice listening to and following instructions while gaining an understanding of basic horsemanship skills.

Classes are each 90 minutes long, 6 classes followed by a Family Fun Night at Dusty Trails where families can enjoy watching what students have learned followed by a campfire cookout with the kids.


Older beginners, Intermediate and Advanced
Cost $370
($45/class for 6 classes, $100 for the outing)

Students in this class will be working on learning and improving horsemanship skills. Students are grouped by current skill level and are challenged and encouraged throughout classes to advance their knowledge and skills.

Classes are each 2 1/2 hours long, 6 classes followed by an all-day outing the ride at Ash Hollow State Park, west of lake McConaughy. Transportaion and lunch for the outing is provided and included in Academy cost.

Sweetheart Carriage Rides on the Bricks

Romance is in the air!

Take your sweetheart for a romantic carriage ride through the beautiful Historic Canteen District downtown.

Booking Options: Each seat fits 2 adults comfortably

One couple (one seat) $25
Two couples (two seats) $35

Private carriage (three seats) for a romantic private ride or the whole family for $50, with space for 6 adults.

When booking your ticket, you will also have the option to purchase a rose (or 12!) for your sweetheart. Roses are provided by the Flower Market and can be picked up when checking in for your ride.

We will be picking you up at the Flower Market, 510 N. Dewey St. Check-in will be inside the building.

Winter Riding Academy 2024

Trail Class Challenge!

Our Winter Riding Academy is open to all skill levels, ages 6yrs-adults. During this academy students will work on improving horsemanship skills and communicating with their horses while guiding them through a variety of challenging obstacles.

This academy will consist of 6 classes followed by a Trail Class Challenge competition where the students will compete for ribbons. Friends and family are invited to come watch the competition, free of charge.

Classes will begin and end at Dusty Trails; we will transport students and horses to an indoor arena for practices and the competition, approximately 15 min drive from the stables.

Classes will be held weekly on Saturday/Sunday afternoons beginning Saturday, Jan. 13th. The competition will tentatively be held the weekend of March 9/10. Times TBA.
Beginners, age 6-9: classes will be 2 1/2 hours long
Intermediate and Advanced: classes will be 3 hours long

Cost: $320, due the first day of class. We accept checks, cash, and credit cards (there is a small convenience fee for credit/debit cards).

A Dusty Trails Christmas

Join us for “A Dusty Trails Christmas”

Take a magical horse-drawn tour of the beautiful Buffalo Bill Ranch lit up for the holiday season, then we’ll make our way to the nearby Lincoln County Historical Museum to view the festive Christmas Village display.

This is a great way to skip the long lines to visit the unique Christmas display at the museums!

Book a seat on either the wagon or the Cinderella carriage for this one-of-a-kind Christmas tour. Each tour lasts approximately 20-30 minutes.

Check in for your tour at Dusty Trails. Enjoy some hot cocoa and treats, warm up in the building by the heater, or visit the petting zoo while you wait for your tour to begin. (Petting zoo included with ticket).

Fall Riding Academy

Horse Show Academy

Join us for an exciting fall academy where you will learn the skills needed to show a horse in the following events:

Horsemanship
Western Pleasure
Trail Class
Barrels
Poles
Keyhole
Flag Race

This academy will consist of 6 classes, 2 1/2 hours each, followed by the Dusty Trails Horse Show in which students will compete in 7 events for a chance to win ribbons and trophies. Classes are for beginner to advanced riders, and we supply the horses! Students will be divided into classes by age/experience. The horse show is free for family and friends to attend!

Classes will begin the week of August 14th and each class will meet once a week through the week of September 18th. The horse show will be held the weekend of September 22nd.

Class A (11 yrs old and up): Mondays 5:30-8pm*
Class B (9-11 yrs old): Thursdays 5:30-8pm
Class C (6-8 yrs old): Tuesdays 5:30-8pm
*with the possible exception of Labor Day September 4th.

Our Spring Riding Academy is open to all skill levels, ages 6yrs-adults. During this academy students will work on improving horsemanship skills and gaining confidence in their riding abilities.

This academy will consist of 6 classes followed by an outing to Ash Hollow State Park for a fun day of riding. Young beginners will end with a family fun night at Dusty Trails with riding and campfire.

Classes will be held weekly on Saturday or Sunday beginning Saturday, April 15th. The beginner family fun night will be held the evening of May 23rd. The outings for other classes will be May 24-26, times TBA.

Young Beginners (ages 6-9): classes will be 90 minutes long, 6 classes followed by a Family Fun Night at Dusty Trails. Cost $210
