Spring Riding Academy 2026

Kick off your spring with an adventure!


Open to all skill levels, ages 6yrs-adults. Horses and all equipment needed are provided.

  • Learn and improve horsemanship skills, gain confidence in your riding abilities through games, teamwork, and individual challenges.

  • Learn how to groom and tack up your horse, learn the parts of the saddle and bridle, as well as all about your horse!

  • Respect, self-discipline, and responsibility are just a few of the life skills practiced during classes.

  • Fun, encouragement, and challenge!

Little Britches (ages 6-8)
Cost $280 ($40/class for 7 classes)

Young students will learn the basics: leading, grooming, saddling, and riding.

Kids will practice listening to and following instructions while gaining an understanding of basic horsemanship skills.

  • 90-minutes classes

  • 6 regular classes

  • Family Fun Night (7th class) at Dusty Trails where families can enjoy watching students ride and show off what they have learned, followed by a campfire cookout with the kids (food provided by Dusty Trails).

Cost $400
($50/class for 6 classes, $100 for the outing)

  • 2 1/2-hour classes

  • 6 regular classes

  • All-day outing to ride at Ash Hollow State Park, west of Lake McConaughy. Transportation and lunch for the outing are provided and included in cost.

Buckaroos (older beginners/intermediate riders) 9-11 yrs olds
Students work on learning and improving horsemanship skills.

  • Students grouped by current skill level

  • Advance knowledge and skills through games and both group and individual tasks and challenges

  • Learn how to saddle and bridle correctly, and begin learning to identify various parts of the saddle and bridle, as well as horse facts.

Top Hands (intermediate/advanced) 11 yr olds - adults
Students in this class will be challenged to take their horsemanship skills to the next level.,

  • Learn correct body position and clear communication cues with horses

  • Gain deeper understanding of saddle fit and learn to identify all the components of the saddle and bridle

  • Gain confidence in all aspects of riding, all while having fun and making friends!

Payment will be taken the first day of class. We accept card, cash, and check. A cash discount is available.

Summer Riding Camps 2026

Make this summer a blast!

Looking for adventure?? Want to make summer memorable??
Join us at Dusty Trails for our Summer Riding Camps!

Whether you are a first-time rider or you have been riding for years, these classes will challenge you to learn and grow in your abilities, improve your horsemanship, and have lots of fun!

Busy summer schedule? No Problem! No need to commit to classes all summer, each camp consists of classes that ride once a day for about 4-5 consecutive days.

Want to ride more this summer? Sign up for multiple camps or add in some private lessons to keep the fun and learning going.

Classes open to riders 6 years old and up. Adults welcome too!

All riding abilities welcome - beginner to advanced

Horses and tack provided — just come ready to learn and have fun!

Options include:

  • Beginning Horsemanship — learn the basics, get a good foundation, make new friends, have fun!

  • Horsemanship 2.0 — Intermediate and advanced riders (and older beginners) continue to learn and grow in riding abilities through challenges, tasks, and teamwork.

  • Summer Camping — three lessons followed by an overnight camping trip in the Nebraska National Forest at Hasley. Lots of horseback riding, playing in the shallow river, tent camping, and campfire cooking. 4 meals and all transportation provided.

Dusty Trails Winter Riding Academy

Trail Class Challenge!

Our Winter Riding Academy is open to all skill levels, ages 6 yrs-adult. During this engaging academy, students will work on learning and improving horsemanship skills and communicating clearly with their horses while guiding them through a variety of challenging obstacles.

  • Classes begin and end at Dusty Trails; we transport students and horses to an indoor arena for practices and the competition, approximately 15 min drive from the stables.

  • 6 classes followed by a Trail Class Challenge competition where the students will compete for ribbons. Friends and family are invited to come watch the competition, free of charge.

  • Classes will be held weekly on Saturday afternoons beginning Saturday Jan. 17th.

  • Competition to be tentatively schedule weekend of February 28th. Times TBA

  • Classes divided by age.
    Class A: 9 yrs and up 2:00pm - 5:00pm
    Class B: 6-9 yrs old 10:30am - 1:00pm

All skill levels, beginners to advanced students, are welcome in either age group. We will challenge each student at their own level and pair them with a horse we feel will best fit their individual abilities.

Cost: $370, due the first day of class. We accept checks, cash, and credit/debit cards (there is a “cash” discount available for check or cash payments!)

A Dusty Trails Christmas

Join us for “A Dusty Trails Christmas”

Take a magical horse-drawn tour of the beautiful Buffalo Bill Ranch lit up for the holiday season, then we’ll make our way to the nearby Lincoln County Historical Museum to view the amazing Christmas Village display.

This is a great way to skip the long lines to visit the unique Christmas display at the museums!

Book a seat on either the wagon or the Cinderella carriage for this one-of-a-kind Christmas tour. Want an intimate tour with just your family? Book a private tour on the carriage for up to 6 people, or the wagon for larger family gatherings!

Each tour lasts approximately 20-30 minutes.

Check in for your tour at Dusty Trails. Enjoy some hot cocoa and treats, warm up in the building by the heater, or visit the petting zoo while you wait for your tour to begin (Petting zoo included with ticket).

Fall Riding Academies

Horse Show Academy

Join us for our exciting fall academy where you will learn the skills needed to show a horse in the following events:

Western Horsemanship
Western Pleasure
Trail Class
Barrels
Poles
Keyhole
Flag Race

COMPETITIVE CLASSES:
This academy will consist of 6 classes, 2 1/2 hours each, followed by the Dusty Trails Horse Show in which students will compete in 7 events for a chance to win ribbons and trophies. Classes are for beginner to advanced riders, and we supply the horses! Students will be divided into classes by age/experience. The horse show is free for family and friends to attend!

NON-COMPETITIVE CLASS:
This academy will still consist of 6 classes, 2 1/2 hours each. However, instead of ending with a competition, student’s families are invited to an exhibition at the arena to watch the students showcase their skills in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere. (No prizes are awarded in this class). This is a great way for beginning riders to get started!

SCHEDULE:

This class will be held one to two times per week. Weeknights and weekends are possible class times. When registering, please indicate your preferred class days and we will do our best to accommodate you. The classes will begin the end of August and run through the end of September, with the Horse Show and Exhibition being held the last weekend of September.

Cost: $370

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Payment will be due the first day of class. If you would like to set up a payment plan, please call us at 308-530-0048 prior to the first day of class.

  • Make up classes are available for missed classes with prior notice. No makeups will be given for no-shows.

  • There is a 225 lb weight limit for students in this class to ensure the safety of both students and horses. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.

  • Class size for competitive classes is limited! Please register soon to secure your spot.
